Interlibrary Loan Services: 410-704-43292
A faculty member may use ILL services to obtain books or journal articles not owned by the Cook Library. The ILL Office does not obtain books from the University System of Maryland (USM) libraries as you may do that directly through the Patron-Placed Hold service in the online catalog. The items that can be obtained through the library's ILL Office are:
The length of time to obtain an ILL varies, but most materials are received within ten days to two weeks. Usually, there is no charge to the faculty for ILL requests. In rare cases, due to a high number of requests or the amount a lending library may charge, either the faculty member or the faculty's department will be required to absorb the cost.
As of August 2004, all Interlibrary Loan requests are processed by our ILLiad system. Our previous Web forms and paper forms are no longer used. To use ILLiad, you must create an ILLIad account, but you will no longer have to have to type in your name, address, and contact information for each request. You will also be able to use a Web browser to view the status of your requests.
To learn more about ILLiad, read the ILLiad FAQ.
To create an ILLiad account, go to the ILLiad Login page.
