· AICT - Art Images for College Teaching - Large database of free-use images for the educational uses by students and teachers.
· Art Education K-12 - Very well organized site for art education ranging from lesson plans to professional organizations and art history resources.
· Art History Resources on the Web - Very comprehensive site broken down into geographic regions and time periods. Research links include online art journals and museum gallery links.
· Art Renewal Center - Survey of art images and related documents for many pre-20th century artists. Because of its philosophy on 20th Century Art, coverage for that era is limited.
· Artchive.com - Designed for educational use, includes links for artists, galleries, and a library of over 2000 images of the works of 200 artists.
· Artcyclopedia - Large database of information on over 7,500 artists. The database can be searched by artist name, artwork title, or nationality.
· Artlex Art Dictionary - Combination database of art terms along with discussions of movements, famous artists, and quotations.
· ArtSchools.com - Over 2,000 listings for professional educational programs for art students. Searchable database includes information on scholarships and other financial aid opportunities.
· ARTSEDGE: The National Arts and Education Network - The mission of ARTSEDGE is to help artists, teachers, and students gain access to and/or share information, resources, and ideas that support the arts as a core subject area in the K12 curriculum.
· ArtsEdNet - Very accessible database of lessons plans for art educators from elementary through secondary school levels.
· Artserve: Art and Architecture mainly from the Mediterranean Basin, Japan and now India - Extensive site of resources and images from the Department of Art History of the Australian National University.
· Ask Art - The Artists' Bluebook - Very extensive biographical information on over 30,000 American artists, professional organizations and more.
· CGFA - A Virtual Art Museum - Non-profit site with very large scanned images of artwork by major artists from around the world.
· EDSITEment - Best of Humanities on the Web - Arts and Culture - Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, contains detailed lesson plans for art teachers and is searchable by grade level (K-12) and subtopic.
· GalleryGuide.org - Very up to date listing of current exhibits, gallery shows, and events across the country.
· International Poster Collection - From Colorado State University this database includes posters from around the world that have been entered in the Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition.
· Maryland State Arts Council - Local site with information about art galleries, performance venues, grant programs and more. Included are arts calendars for events throughout the state of Maryland.
· Metropolitan Musem of Art - Timeline of Art History - interactive timeline beginning in 2000 BCE through the present. Special topics are also included as well as video presentations.
· National Art Education Association - Listing of national and state web sites, as well as reports on the state of art education in the United States
· National Endowment for the Arts - This site contains information about the Endowment's programs and print or online publications.
· National Museum of Women in the Arts - Located in Washington, D.C., this museum is devoted to the works of over 800 women artists. Website includes reproduced images and some biographical data.
· New York Public Library - Best of the Web - Art and Architecture - Well organized set of web listings ranging from an online art history tutorial to art reproductions.
· Picsearch - Contains thumbnail sketches for thousands of images from a large variety of subjects on the web. A link will take users to the orginal source of the image on the web.
· President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities - Reports and publications on the development of education in the arts and humanities.
· Smithsonian Institution - Comprised of 16 museums and galleries, the National Zoo, and 11 research centers. Its website features historical, cultural, and scientific information.
· Univ. of Michigan - Mother of All Art History Links - Well organized and annotated links that range from online exhibitions to art history on the web to video art.
· WebMuseum, Paris - Part encyclopedia, part online gallery, this site contains narrative entires for schools and genres of art with links for online illustration of key artists in each entry
· Wonderful World of Music, Theatre Arts, and Art Resources available at the Albert S. Cook Library - A guide to resources available specifically at Cook Library together with class documents, pathfinders for research and more.
· Words of Art - Comprehensive online art dictionary from OKanagan University, complete with hypertext links for related terms mentioned within an entry
· World Art Treasures - Online database of information on artists from around the world, throughout history. Slide libraries are arranged by artist, country, or time period.
· World Wide Arts Resources - A compendium of art news, contemporary artist information, and art publications.
· World Wide Web Virtual Library Museum Pages - Arranged geographically by country and heavily represented by art institutions, this site presents an organized list of all types of museums on every conceiveable topic, including non-art subjects.
