· Amphibia Web - Browse or search the database for a particular species or genus. You can also search by country or region. This website includes distribution information, maps, photos, IUCN Red List status, a glossary, taxonomy information and more.
· Animal Diversity Web - Includes instructional resources and basic taxonomy information. Search or browse to find images, example specimens, sounds, and other detailed information on each part of classification within the animal kingdom--from phylum to species.
· Biology Browser - Searches in Biology Browser yield annotated lists of high-quality web resources. Browse for biological databases, directories, journals, dictionaries, instructional resources and more. Also contains a glossary and detailed taxonomic information.
· Crop Explorer - From the USDA, this site contains data and statistics on crop production, and imports/exports for major crop-producing regions around the world. Browse by region or crop to find data from any year from 2000-present. The data is broken down by country and further subdivided by states and smaller regions. Also included on this site are news, events, articles, and reports.
· Ecological Society of America
· Encyclopedia of Life - With the ambitious goal of documenting all species of life on earth, the Encyclopedia of Life contains taxonomic information, photos, projects, and other details about many species. The site is customizable and continues to grow.
· FishBase - Search this database to find brief encyclopedic information on over 30,000 species of fish.
· Integrated Taxonomic Information System - Search this database by common or scientific name to find taxonomic information on plants, animals, fungi, and microbes.
· IUCN Red List of Threatened Species - This site includes data, statistics, related references and links, photos and more information on threatened and endangered species. Search the database for details on the habitat, ecology, threats, conservation efforts, geographic range, and taxonomy for a specific species.
· Microbes.info - Includes images, articles, news, employment information, and related web resources.
· National Audubon Society
· National Biological Information Infrastructure - Contains information on plants, animals, and other organisms; details on habitats; provides information on other ecological topics such as conservation; includes
· National Science Foundation - An independent U.S. government agency responsible for promoting science and engineering through a variety of grant programs.
· Neotropical Birds - From the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, this resource includes identification, distribution, life history, conservation, and more for many species of neotropical birds.
· PLANTS database - From the USDA, this site focuses on U. S. plants only and includes a searchable and browsable plant database, fact sheets and plant guides, information on threatened and endangered species, and more. Search the database by common or scientific name. The database provides basic information about a plant species including images, related plants, distribution maps, classification, and further resources.
· Society for Conservation Biology
· Tree of Life - "The Tree of Life Web Project is a collection of information about biodiversity compiled collaboratively by hundreds of expert and amateur contributors. Its goal is to contain a page with pictures, text, and other information for every species and for each group of organisms, living or extinct. Connections between Tree of Life web pages follow phylogenetic branching patterns between groups of organisms, so visitors can browse the hierarchy of life and learn about phylogeny and evolution as well as the characteristics of individual groups."
· U.S. National Library of Medicine - Assists in the advancement of medical and related sciences through the collection and exchange of information on medicine and public health.
