· Aria Database - A comprehensive database of opera arias with English translations and a tremendous listing of links covering all aspects of opera.
· ARTSEDGE: The National Arts and Education Network - The mission of ARTSEDGE is to help artists, teachers, and students gain access to and/or share information, resources, and ideas that support the arts as a core subject area in the K12 curriculum.
· ASCAP - The official site for the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, includes free access to the ACE database for tracing the performances of popular songs in America.

· Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project - from the University of California, Santa Barbara comes an online archive of historic recordings for listening ranging from minstrel show melodies to vocal quartets and ethnic music.
· Doctoral Dissertations in Musicology-Online (DDM Online) - An index to dissertations-in-progress and a bibliography of completed dissertations reported since mid-1995.
· Dolmetsch Music Dictionary - full text music dictionary including musical terms, performance markings, and foreign phrases.
· Dolmetsch Music Theory and History Online - full text links with score material illustrating a variety of topics in basic and advanced music theory. With a Scorch plug in, you can also hear aural examples.
· Donald's Encyclopedia of Popular Music - Focusing primarily on performers, genres, and songwriters, this site offers a comprehensive look at the personalities involved in popular music in the US and England.
· Essentials of Music - Sponsored by Sony Records with W.W. Norton, this site offers reference information with musical examples and includes an interactive musical glossary.
· Gospel Music Association - Includes chart information, industry statistics, and hall of fame entries.
· Gospel Music Lyrics - Hosts large database of gospel song lyrics and offers free music downloads of songs.
· Guide to Copyright for Music Librarians - This site will answer the most frequently asked questions on when and how music can be reproduced in aural and written formats.
· Historic American Sheet Music - Free facsimile editions of traditional ballads and popular songs sung in this country from 1850-1920.
· International Alliance for Women in Music - A comprehensive, international site that covers the accomplishments of women composers and performers from all time periods.
· International Music Score Library - Compendium of over 12,000 public domain scores for downloading.
· Julliard Manuscript Collection - online archive of one of the most important donations musical manuscripts in recent history. Entries include a description and are scanned with high resolution quality.
· K - 12 Resources for Music Educators - A large collection of links for teachers of music for grades K-12, broken down by area of discipline.
· Lester S. Levy Sheet Music Collection - A special collection at the Johns Hopkins University - contains over 29,000 pieces of music and focuses on popular American music spanning the period 1780 to 1960.
· Library of Congress Performing Arts Reading Room - Guide to online collections of the Library of Congress' American Memory project and its regular reading rooms.
· Lied and Song Texts Page - An international database of original lyrics with English translations of songs of over 3,251 composers, complete with composer, poet, first line and title indexes.
· Maryland State Arts Council - Local site with information about art galleries, performance venues, grant programs and more. Included are arts calendars for events throughout the state of Maryland.
· Music Scores.Com - A combination of sound bite with score for many standard composers. There is a limit to the number of free downloads per day.
· MusicTheory.net - An animated collection of instructional lessons covering both beginning and advanced levels of music theory.
· Mutopia Project - public doman scores for study and download. Be sure to read the instructions about downloading the Lilypond program as an option for viewing scores.
· National Endowment for the Arts - This site contains information about the Endowment's programs and print or online publications.
· Neue Mozart-Ausgabe/Digital Mozart Edition - a complete edition of the scores in the print NMA. It is sometimes best to try to enter the site at night; during daytime hours, site traffic may prevent downloads.
· Passion for Jazz - This site offers many nice links for the jazz student.
· President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities - Reports and publications on the development of education in the arts and humanities.
· Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum - A guide to the stars of the past and present making history in rock music, complete with timeline.
· Selected Music Resources on the Net from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts - Very well researched and organized listing of sites ranging from research facilities to composer biographies to musical societies.
· Shades of Blue - Includes essays on the history of the blues, recommended recordings, and a biographical dictionary of artists.
· Sheet Music Archive - Complete pieces of free classical sheet music available for downloading. You must have Adobe Acrobat to view downloads.
· Wonderful World of Music, Theatre Arts, and Art Resources available at the Albert S. Cook Library - A guide to resources available specifically at Cook Library together with class documents, pathfinders for research and more.
· Worldwide Internet Music Resources - Indiana University Music Library keeps a broad list including academic, personal and geographical sites.
